Helping Students Learn

Many resources are available to LeTourneau University faculty members as they help individual students meet their learning objectives.

Academic Advising.  College students who formulate a sound educational and career plan based on interests, values, and skills will have a greater likelihood for success academically, personally, and spiritually. Advising remains the most significant means to facilitate this process.

Learning Styles.   Among many other things, good teaching means careful evaluation of the individual student. Not just careful evaluation regarding examinations, papers, and projects, but a careful evaluation of how each student learns best. Faculty are encouraged to help students understand who they are as learners as well as recognize their strengths. Similarly, faculty should recognize that not all students learn in the same style and need to accommodate teaching styles accordingly.

Student Services.  LeTourneau University's student services department provides many forms of assistance to students, including personal tutoring, scheduled tutorial instruction, early alert systems, and online resources.

Teaching Students to Use Technology.   Whether students have a basic knowledge of computers and the internet or a broad knowledge of both, additional resources may help them fulfill their obligations in class, whether it be for writing papers, completing projects, or improving organization skills.
