FAQs

Here are some common questions

Q. What exciting things are happening in your school?

A. We have a new FAA Industry Training Standards (FITS) flight training curriculum. LETU is one of several leading universities moving to a FITS based flight training curriculum. LETU was the first to offer a FITS approved private pilot curriculum and will be among the first to offer a FITS approved commercial pilot curriculum.

Q. What types of jobs do your graduates take immediately after graduation?

A. That depends on their degree concentration. If it is an aircraft systems concentration, they usually go to work as an aircraft technician at a variety of places, including Aircraft Completion Centers and the airlines. If the student graduates with either an electrical systems concentration or a mechanical systems concentration, they most likely work as an engineer at an aircraft manufacturer or aircraft electronics systems (avionics) manufacturer. If they are a flight student, their job is often as a flight instructor.

Q. How does your program challenge students?

A. We have high expectations and expect our students to have a professional attitude. We expect students to be precise in their studies, including flight training.

Q. Is aeronautical science the same as aerospace engineering?

A. The aeronautical science degrees are not the same as aerospace engineering degrees. Engineering degrees are much more theoretical. While our aeronautical science degrees are lab science based, they are applied and more hands-on than engineering degrees.
